Ingram Micro SA, a joint venture between Ingram Micro Europe MB Technologies has signed a distribution agreement with Microsoft South Africa, which sees the company gaining official OEM distribution status for the vendor's client operating systems, client-side applications and server solutions.

Nicola Homewood, newly-appointed Microsoft product manager at Ingram Micro SA, says that the agreement extends the extremely valuable relationship that exists between Ingram Micro and Microsoft at a worldwide level.
"This agreement is of considerable value to us locally as it allows us to offer our channel partners a more complete portfolio of products which now encompasses both hardware and software, aligning it with the one-stop shopping experience Ingram Micro provides worldwide. We see this as a vital win for both us and the local system builder channel," says Homewood.
"To our component vendors, the agreement also offers tremendous cross- and up-selling opportunities given the strength of Microsoft's name."
Reggie Nxumalo, OEM director at Microsoft SA, agrees that the local appointment of Ingram Micro is a no-brainer.
"While it obviously makes sense for us to extend our international relationship with Ingram Micro on a local basis, partnering with Ingram Micro South Africa brings business to a growing market." Nxumalo says.
"I see tremendous opportunities in the alliance of the reputation and strength of our brand with Ingram Micro's world-class distribution know-how, extensive capabilities as well as the strong local presence and visibility that the company now has in the South African ICT market."
The new distribution agreement is active with immediate effect.
