Microsoft plans to humiliate Xbox cheats by plastering the message "I'm a dirty cheater" across their Xbox Live profiles.
Some Xbox Live users artificially manipulate their scores and appear on the leaderboard without having played the games.
These hackers manipulate save files and account information to make them appear as the best players – and legitimate players, who have battled through the games to achieve leaderboard status, are tired of being bumped by cheats.
Microsoft yesterday announced that it will take action against the most serious offenders, who would have their Gamescores set to zero, be unable to regain previous achievements, and be clearly labelled as a cheater.
There would be no appeal, Microsoft says.
