Exponant, the IT solutions and consulting services company, has been announced as a channel partner for Argility in South Africa, a leading retail-focused software distribution company.

Argility was recently unbundled from JSE Securities Exchange listed company UCS Group. Launched officially on 1 October this year, Argility is to distribute South African developed software products, including the ActiveRetail and DolFin software product suites.
However, according to Lester Aderem, MD of Argility, the company plans to add to its product range as part of its plan to offer retailers a "a suite of retail-focused solutions that can add significant business benefit in any retail environment".
“We will be appointing very few specialist channel partners in Southern Africa and we believe that Exponant is a perfect fit for our business model, client base and business objectives.”
Exponant is experienced in the deployment and support of various solutions, including the point-of-sale (POS) industry.
Aderem says Argility recently appointed a number of channel partners in the UK, where it had recently completed its first roll-out of ActiveRetail EPOS with homeware retailer, The Pier, now installed at 33 stores.
While the company will initially be focusing on the UK and South African markets – which is expected to be its main revenue stream in the short term – the company is also looking at setting up a distribution channel in the US.
“The US is a large market and we believe, in the long term, it is likely to be our biggest market. At this stage, however, we are very much focused on the UK and South Africa. We believe there are currently big opportunities in the South African retail space.”
