Specialist ICT services provider Atio has acquired Saab Grintek’s enterprise division with immediate effect.

Chris van der Sande, CEO of Atio, says the deal consolidates Atio's position as a Nortel reseller and enhances its portfolio of offerings in the voice recording and workforce optimisation market segments, where it will now also represent Nice Systems as well as other leading vendors.
“We are extremely excited about the conclusion of this transaction as it significantly increases our customer base and presence, both locally as well as within the broader Sub-Saharan African territory,” Van der Sande says.
Atio has provided specialised ICT services for more than two decades. Its ability to provide excellent service that adds value is the company’s primary objective. Its two business units, Atio interactive and Atio Telecoms are designed to meet business challenges now and in the future.
Commenting on the sale, Makhup Nyama CEO of Saab Grintek, says: “The sale of Enterprise is part of Saab Grintek’s consolidation strategy aimed at streamlining operations to focus on core business. Enterprise’s business fits the business philosophy of Atio thereby complimenting the portfolio offering Atio provides.”
In terms of the deal, the entire enterprise division staff complement, consisting of 35 people, will be relocated to Atio’s offices in Rivonia, Johannesburg and Century City in Cape Town.
”This will ensure service continuity for our customers and further grow the capacity and competency of our already strong team in the ATIO interactive division,” Van der Sande says. “In addition to consolidating our market position, the acquisition of Saab Grintek’s Enterprise Division is fully in line with our strong ability to deliver within our ethos of support and service excellence.”
The deal has been finalised, including all legal precedents and Competition Commission approval.
The past few years have seen Atio sign up significant blue chip accounts for voice, data and contact centres on Nortel and other platforms. Added to this, Atio has just achieved Double Gold Partner status and has been awarded recognition for being the Fastest Growing Partner at a recent Nortel Awards Ceremony.
