Buzzwords explained at free tech seminars

Buzzwords are a way of life in the ICT industry – but sometimes its useful for users to take a step backwards and get to grips with what those buzzwords mean, how they are changing the way people work and play, and where they are going in the future.

And Computer Faire visitors will have the opportunity to do just that, thanks to a series of free seminars being presented by SVT Consulting, an independent business development and consulting company.
The seminars may be free, but they will be packed with value as an impressive line-up of international speakers helps delegates to understand topical subjects like voice over IP (VoIP), wireless broadband, IPTV, VOD, data retention, fixed/mobile convergence, media convergence and security.
Speakers, all recognised international authorities on their subjects, will give delegates an overview of current market trends and sketch directions for the technologies in the future.
The three-hour seminar covers all the subjects and will be repeated on each day of Computer Faire. Visitors are urged to book early as there is a limit of 120 delegates for each session.
Schalk van Tonder, MD of SVT Consulting, says his company decided to offer the seminars alongside Computer Faire as a free service to South African users and resellers.
"We've persuaded a number of international technology leaders to participate with presenters covering technology updates on subjects that are close to people's hearts," he says.
"The talks are not product-centric, but will offer the speakers' own technology insight based on their own extensive experiences."
The speakers include John Alves of Epygi, Gordon Young or DiVitas, Paolo di Leo from SalesforeEurope for Intelligentias and Anagran, Robert Stubblebine from InfiNet Wireless, and Mladen Matijas from SalesforeEurope for BestTV and On2.
