Grand Theft Auto set to break box office records

The latest version of Grand Theft Auto could be on its way to becoming the biggest launch in entertainment history, with pundits expecting it to sell 6-million copies in its first week.

This would put it up there with the debut of Pirates of the Caribbean III, currently the record-holder, and ahead of both Spiderman 3 and Halo 3, which notched up $300-million in its first week.
Meanwhile the hero of the game, Niko Bellic, is rapidly turning into a global cult figure.
In Grand Theft Auto IV, players "become" the character and immerse themselves in the virtual world where they can interact with other characters.
