Ingram Micro has been appointed as a distributor for the full range of Asus components throughout South Africa and the sub-Saharan region.

In securing the Asus agency, Ingram Micro South Africa has access to all the PC components its system builders and OEM partners need to build a computer.
"We can now supply all the components needed for manufacture to our resellers. This has made Ingram Micro a truly one-stop shop for computer components," says Tyrone Gruner, Asus product manager at Ingram Micro South Africa.
Even though Ingram Micro South Africa has access to the full range of Asus products, Tyrone points out that they have a very specific go-to market strategy in place.
"We have decided to initially focus on the motherboard and graphic card range which includes AMD and Intel compatible motherboards from an entry level option right up to the top of the range Republic of Gamers boards. We will also have a wide range of AMD/ATI and Nvidia based graphics cards.  Asus is arguably the largest branded motherboard manufacturer in the world and we feel that these are the best products to start with," he says.
The thinking behind this is to ensure that the correct support and infrastructure are in place for the core products and then apply that formula to the other Asus offerings.
"Distributors often do too much too quickly. With this strategy, we are showing our partners and Asus that we are in it for the long haul. By ensuring that the support network is in place for motherboards and graphic cards, we will be able to offer the best support to the rest of the range," adds Tyrone.
John David, head of product marketing at Ingram Micro South Africa, feels that the Asus brand is a very strategic one for the company. With Ingram Micro internationally being the largest distribution partner for Asus in the world, he knows the local office can draw from that experience and make Asus the leading branded motherboard in South Africa.
