SatComms has launched a single, scalable software-based solution from Streambox that streamlines live and file-based news gathering over IP.

“Whether the user is going live-to-air with breaking news, generating video files for a later broadcast, or posting video clips to their website, the Streambox platform enables users to stream easily and economically,” says Satcomms chairman Anthony Glass.
“Media groups serving local television markets, including CNN and Sky News, are using Streambox in increasing numbers because the technology helps enhance their mobile newsgathering capabilities while streamlining overall news operations and reducing cost,” says Glass.
“For less than half the cost of a microwave truck, a local broadcaster would be able to deploy a basic Streambox package comprising several software encoders, scalable video management systems and play-out capabilities.
“The newsgathering platform helps broadcasters stay competitive, simplify operations, and potentially increase their market share by enabling them to report breaking news as events unfold and simultaneously feeding the video to their websites, affiliate stations, networks and newspaper websites,” says Glass.
