SolarWinds joins Riverbed Technology Alliance

SolarWinds, a provider of downloadable, enterprise-class network management software, has joined the Riverbed Technology Alliance (RTA).

The RTA is a select group of complementary technology companies who share a common vision of delivering significant performance and savings as customers increasingly use the wide area network (WAN) to enable global business.
SolarWinds’ network management tools deliver to customers of Riverbed WDS solutions comprehensive network monitoring, configuration, troubleshooting and diagnostics capabilities.
“Riverbed delivers the industry’s most comprehensive WDS solutions,” says Venugopal Pai, senior director: alliances at Riverbed. “Riverbed customers who deploy SolarWinds’ network management software will be able to manage resources more efficiently, resulting in a reduction of operational costs and better monitoring and management of user performance.”
In addition to monitoring and configuration support for Steelhead appliances offered by SolarWinds’ Orion and Cirrus products,  Riverbed customers will be able to leverage SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer in conjunction with NetFlow technology on the Steelhead appliance for greater visibility into network traffic behavior and trends on their WAN links.
Additionally, SolarWinds roadmap includes delivering unique reporting capabilities in Orion to show how much bandwidth savings resulted from the use of the Steelhead appliances.
“By working together, SolarWinds and Riverbed are able to deliver to our joint customers the tools they need to more proactively run their networks,” says Josh Stephens, director of technology at SolarWinds.
“The additional visibility and control provided by SolarWinds will allow Riverbed customers to reap greater benefits from their Steelhead product deployments, including more intelligent deployment strategies and reduced operational expense.”
