Anti-piracy dog dies

Dogs trained to sniff our CDs and DVDs in Malaysia seem to be having some success in curbing the illegal movement of contraband – to the extent that one of them has been found dead in suspicious circumstances.

The one-year-old golden Labrador, Mannie, had been in Malaysia since February, although he hadn't started work yet.
He and his partner Paddy were the latest addition to the Malaysian unit, which has been successful in uncovering contraband through the efforts of two other dogs, Lucky and Flo.
Lucky and Flo have been so successful that there is a price on their heads.
The dogs are trained to identify the chemicals used in manufacturing optical disks.
They can't actually smell if they're legal or pirated – their handlers have to take over once they've found any hidden DVDs.
