Ingram Micro South Africa has announced the availability of the 8Gbit/sec Brocade 200E switch and the Brocade 8Gbit/sec Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter (HBA), the debut HBA offering from the networking provider.

The 200E switch provides companies with a single-switch solution for new small storage area networks (SANs) or existing ones that are being upgraded with newer technology.
"It has several features that enhances switch operation, allowing organisations to enjoy the advantages of low-cost device connectivity thereby making SAN technology highly accessible and affordable," says Jacques Van Zijl, storage solutions product manager at Ingram Micro South Africa.
The Brocade 8Gbps Fibre Channel HBA offers reliable, high-performance server connectivity for mission-critical SAN environments. With a design that delivers 800Mbps throughput, this HBA is ideal for data-intensive storage applications.
"In the past, the main focus of Brocade was on its switches. With this new HBA offering from the company, we aim to drive awareness that this data networking solutions leader now offers a very competitive HBA product," continues Van Zijl.
The proven reliability of the single ASIC design makes this HBA ideal for connecting services to SAN fabrics based on Brocade Fabric OS or Brocade M-Enterprise OS.
"Another strength of this HBA is that it is better-priced than any of the competitive products. With South Africa being a very price-sensitive market, we believe that this will help grow the Brocade offering even more in the market," he says.
