Sahara Computers has signed up a joint venture with US consulting and solutions company Cyret Technologies to set up a local operation specialising in value-added service delivery around JD Edwards and Oracle systems.

The new venture, which signals Cyret’s intention to establish operations within South Africa, will be based in Gauteng’s ICT hub in Midrand.
Cyret Technologies SA will draw on the specialist technical expertise and market experience of Sahara Computers and represents a focused solution and implementation partner for ERP infrastructure.
It will support a national distribution network comprising 11 key points of presence.
Cyret will also deliver the full scale implementation of the latest version of the Oracle JDE product, Enterprise One 8.12, to the local and surrounding markets.
Management of the combined company will include members from both organisations, with Rajan Deshpande will head the new venture as CEO.
“This strategic venture considerably expands our resources and significantly increases our bandwidth, thus improving our ability to grow the company’s client base into a new territory of Africa,” says Deshpande.
“Our intention will be to serve as a premier services and solutions partner on this platform for the JDE customer base. We also intend using the established infrastructure in-house for the benefit our company,” says Atul Gupta, chairman and MD of Sahara.
The synergy between Sahara Computers and Cyret Technologies USA is based on a number of similarities, including global presence, brand development, investment in training and skills development, quality technology distribution via a proven methodology and established network.
“Our companies share worldwide presence and proven success in technology solutions that meets the requirements of an ever-changing market environment. We have symbiotic expertise that will certainly add value to the local market," says Gupta.
"Service in Africa has been largely associated with multinationals or specific service consultancy firms. We are leading the way for local original equipment manufacturers to be part of this offering. Our dealings with Cyret in the past indicate to us a highly professional, well organized outfit that certainly adds value. We are very pleased and excited to be a part of this venture."
