ProScan launches commercial GPS system

ProScan Enterprise Mobility, a member of the ProScan Group, introduces the
groundbreaking CoPilot Live 7 GPS navigation from ALK Technologies for
Windows Smartphones and Pocket PCs – the latest innovation in commercial
grade and consumer satellite navigation and reliable dock-to-dock
directions.

ProScan Enterprise Mobility, a preferred distributor for ALK Technologies'
leading global consumer and enterprise transportation systems, is a leading
provider of total mobile solutions that increase efficiencies in enterprises
across southern Africa.
CoPilot Live 7 software redefines mobile satellite navigation with its
simple and intuitive menus, new clearer 2D and 3D map views, and real-time
mobile Internet navigation based services. It provides mobile devices, such
as the Intermec CN3 enterprise mobile computer, with full-featured satellite
navigation, offering the same performance and ease of use as a dedicated
in-dash navigation system.
Redesigned destination entry makes going to places simple, with step-by-step
address entry, finger-touch buttons and predictive address matching.
Frequently used features are quickly accessible including changing the map
view, finding a detour and locating the nearest petrol station.
Included with the Enterprise version of CoPilot LiveT 7 is ALK's Software
Development Kit (SDK). This allows developers the facility to integrate GPS
navigation directly into their mobility solution, enabling their application
to pass addresses directly to CoPilot so that the driver does not have to
enter the address into the device via the screen or keypad.
CoPilot Live 7's new 2D and 3D map views enable drivers to see their exact
location and the way ahead clearly and easily. As with all CoPilot
navigation solutions, Driver Safety is a priority so by default, in Driver
Safety View, a map is only shown close to a turn or junction, progressively
zooming-in automatically before returning to the non-distracting safety
screen once the turn is completed.
CoPilot Live 7 incorporates the latest street mapping data and updated
points-of-interest(POI). Map regions including South Africa, Europe, Middle
East, and Australia are available to download from the CoPilot Central
desktop companion.
Finding the nearest petrol station or bank is made easy with access to more
than 6-million POIs. There are over 50 categories displayed in CoPilot Live
7
both in 2D or 3D map views. Many POIs include telephone numbers, so
customers can select a POI and activate a call directly from within CoPilot.
CoPilot Live 7 provides a wide variety of routing options, familiar industry
standard map colour themes and other settings that can be selected and
personalised to suit the individual.
Andrew Fosbrook, goup MD ProScan, says:" We are able to create customer
experiences to complement their brands. Live mobile data services can be
specified by Mobile Operators to incorporate their preferred partners or
content.
"An all-new desktop content management companion, CoPilot Central, makes it
easy to download and manage extra maps, POIs and other content. Software
updates are automatically downloaded and installed. Powerful trip planning
features help customers work out their trips in advance and download
pre-planned routes to their mobile device for real-time route guidance and
navigation."
CoPilot Live 7 is a connected navigation system that utilises the mobile
internet to deliver useful real-time information about the route ahead.
Businesses can take advantage of a seamless connection to CoPilot
FleetCenter, a premium service that provides multi-vehicle fleet tracking,
job dispatch, instant driver messaging and historical reporting.
" CoPilot LiveT 7 is a truly personalised satellite navigation system. We
can now provide drivers, cyclists and pedestrians with the same experience
on a mobile device as a dedicated or in-dash sat nav system, as well as
useful real-time location-specific services, such as location tracking",
adds Fosbrook.
