SAS named as a leader in enterprise BI

SAS has been selected as a Leader in the July 2008 Forrester Wave:
Enterprise Business Intelligence Platforms, Q3 2008.

"SAS is the best one-stop BI shop that includes high-end analytics from a
single vendor," according to the report from the influential research firm.
"We see no reason SAS can't continue on its amazing track record of
uninterrupted 32-year growth."
"Even though several other vendors realise or are starting to realise the
value of providing higher-end analytics tools like statistical analysis and
predictive modelling, SAS is pretty hard to beat in this category,
especially when it comes to embedding such analytical routines in powerful
DBMS engines like Teradata," says the Forrester report.
Companies around the globe, and in diverse industries, have deployed SAS BI
and predictive analytics to gain competitive advantage.
"Using SAS Enterprise BI Server, Brooks Brothers has been able to turn data
into an increasingly strategic corporate asset," says David Donovan, IT
manager of Retail Brand Alliance-Brooks Brothers. "We are now able to focus
on the performance indicators that matter most and proactively determine
what actions will yield the most favourable results. We use our data to
power better business decisions."
With more than 210 US and 120 global partner stores, Brooks Brothers
requires a fast, flexible and highly-capable BI solution. The retailer,
whose history stretches back to 1818, found what it needed from SAS.
"As we expected, the SAS BI solution allows Brooks Brothers to quickly see
how actions contribute to reaching our goals, but the more we use SAS
software, the more its value increases," says Donovan. "This aligns
perfectly with our corporate mission to offer a superior combination of
products, service, delivery and communications. We deployed SAS and our
customers benefit."
SAS differs from most BI vendors by providing a very broad range of
capabilities with significant commonality and ease of use across
applications, without being tied to one data structure or another
application. SAS offers highly tailored solutions for specific industries,
such as banking, insurance, life sciences, manufacturing and retail.
"Our customers such as Brooks Brothers understand that to lead in their
business sectors they must take advantage of leading technology. SAS is the
BI leader with over 30 years of independent BI innovation and some 44 000
customer sites using our technology to drive their businesses," says Bruce
Bond-Myatt, deliver manager at SAS Institute. "Independent research firms
such as Forrester continue to confirm customers' wise choice of SAS."
