Cisco integrates Linksys to SMB channel partner programme

Cisco is incorporating the Linksys Small-Business Channel Partner Programme
services and assets into the Cisco Channel Partner Programme. This process
includes bringing the Linksys Business Series products into the Cisco SMB
portfolio and providing Cisco channel partners with access to a more diverse
solution set to allow for more choice and increased revenue potential.

"The SMB market continues to present tremendous growth potential for Cisco
and our channel partners, and we have been successfully serving the sector
with solutions from both Cisco and Linksys," says Val Moodley, regional
sales manager: Commercial at Cisco South Africa.
"We believe that taking a coordinated approach across technology and
go-to-market strategies is a natural evolution that brings greater synergies
to our customers and channel partners alike. This includes an array of
channel programme benefits to meet the broad requirements presented by our
partners' customer base, all designed to increase revenue potential and
enable us to focus collectively on serving the SMB customer."
Cisco's focus is on redefining the role of the network, by continuously
introducing applications which are dependant on the network to transact.
"At Cisco we see the network as a platform, that transforms SMBs.  Two years
ago in South Africa, we launched an aggressive play into the SMB market
launching a refreshed channel programme (SMB Select)," adds Moodley.
"We have since launched a 'lifecycle' approach to growing the channel,
bringing partners on and encouraging them to fast track their skill set and
ability to specialise and up-sell and cross-sell our solutions. Our value
proposition in this segment of the market has been focused around "smart,
simple, secure" solutions for SMBs."
More than 20 000 Linksys global channel partners will have the opportunity
to become part of the Cisco Channel Partner Programme. To help ensure
continuous access to resources and tools, Linksys Partner Connection (LPC)
members have until 16 September 2008, to become Cisco Registered Channel
Partners. Cisco channel partner benefits include, but are not limited to,
access to demo equipment, financial incentives, sales support via Small
Business Market Managers, lead generation via the SMB website on,
and access to marketing resources such as Cisco Campaign Builder, and Cisco
Partner Central.
Cisco and Linksys have developed a phased approach to support the
integration.  Linksys channel partners have been provided with the steps
needed to ensure a smooth entrance into the Cisco Channel Partner Programme,
which includes obtaining a user identification number and password for
programme access and a registration form that takes less than 30 minutes to
"Due to the nature of the SMB business, enabling Cisco's channel to scale to
the market opportunity is the critical focus. Cisco's channel programme is
geared towards enticing channel partners to come on board and rewarding them
for their success," says Moodley.
