Epson corporate account manager Albert Fayard has been appointed as GM for the Epson Southern African region, following Hans Dummer's promotion to new business development manager and his relocation to Epson's London office.
Dummer has been tasked with planning and executing Epson's internal re-structure, which will see a lot more emphasis being placed on developing the business within emerging markets including Africa.
As Fayard steps up to the helm of the southern African region, he will be bringing a wealth of experience in sales and marketing within the Epson organisation to his role.
"I have some big shoes to fill," he says. "Hans was the man who put Epson on the map here in SA and his 20-year history in the organisation has earned him a lot of respect amongst management.
"Epson has worked very hard to develop some very strong relationships within the local channel," he adds.
"To this extent, we intend to be a lot more focussed on maintaining existing relationships with our partners and developing new partnerships that will benefit the Epson business, its partners and its end-users."
Fayard, who officially took over from Dummer in July, says that he is looking forward to both the challenges in his new role, and working together with the Epson Southern Africa team to build the brand into an even stronger competitor in the local space.
"We're making headway in a number of sectors, particularly in the corporate, home-cinema and large-format printing environments where we have strong product and service offerings.
"And,as we expand our reach into the rest of Africa, we hope to build enough momentum to catapult Epson into a leading position for corporate, photographic, consumer and large-format printing combined, as well as point-of-sale, which is a growing business for us," he adds.
