Local broadband operator iBurst has been named as a finalist in the 2008 World Communication Awards to be held at the London Hilton in November.
Nominated for Best Operator in a Developing Country, iBurst is the only South African operator to be shortlisted for this catergory in the most widely-recognised and influential awards for the global telecommunications sector. iBurst is up against Roshan Telecom Development Company (Afghanistan), Safaricom Ltd (Kenya) and Viettel Corporation (Vietnam).
"We are thrilled that a young local operator like iBurst has featured on the world telecoms stage alongside megabrands like Cable & Wireless, Qualcomm and Orange," says Thami Mtshali, CEO of iBurst.
