A report that Steve Jobs had suffered a heart attack sent Apple's stock plummeting on Friday – even though the report was false.
iReport.com, a citizen reporting site owned by CNN, carried a piece claiming that Jobs had been rushed to an emergency room following a heart attack.
Apple's share pluged more than 2% to a 17-month low on the news, before Apple released a statement denying the report.
iReport later removed the piece and disabled the user's account.
Jobs, 53, has suffered from cancer but has undergone surgery said to have removed it.
