Microsoft has reported an increase in its profit for the first quarter, mainly through licence renewals among its corporate customers.
For the three months ended 30 September, Microsoft's earnings rose to $4,37-billion (48 cents a share) from $4,29-billion (45 cents a share) in corresponding period last year.
Sales were up 9%, at$15,1-billion.
Profit for the server group was up 20% to $1,2-billion. The Office division reported an earnings increase of 23% to $3,3-billion.
