Fred Swanepoel has been appointed as the new chief information officer (CIO) and head of group technology at Nedbank Group, effective 1 November 2008.

He has also been appointed to the Nedbank Group Executive Committee.
Swanepoel was previously the head of group software services at Nedbank.
He joined Nedbank in 1996 after eight years at the Small Business Development Corporation. During his career at Nedbank he has had wide-ranging experience
in the technology division, being appointed a senior manager in 2004 with responsibility for finance, risk and compliance and later assuming responsibility for project and programme management.
