The first-ever Sony Centre in Africa has been opened in the Menlyn Shopping Centre in Pretoria, giving shoppers access to the full rage of Sony products in an interactive, hands-on environment.
The range of products available at the Sony Centre include home entertainment, mobile entertainment, camcorders and cameras, television, computers and in-car entertainment, as well as the latest offerings from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Sony Music Entertainment, Sony PlayStation3 and Sony Ericsson.
Nelmari Claassens, Sony Pictures marketing manager at SterKinekor Entertainment, comments: "The new stores will further drive the uptake of high definition (HD). The store will also be showcasing and selling Sony's next-generation Blu-ray Disc player, the BDP-S350."
There are currently more than 2 000 Sony Centres worldwide. The next destination planned for Africa is Gabarone, Botswana in November.
A further Sony Centre in Gauteng will open before the end of the year, with another planned for March or April 2009.
