SAP has signalled its commitment to the SME (small and medium enterprise) market sector with two new out-the-box offerings as well as finance options to help smaller companies cope with the upfront cost of business applications.
The new out-the-box offerings are aimed medium-sized and small companies respectively and include SAP software, hardware, implementation, training and services. The company has partnered with Novell to supply the infrastructure.
The new products are Fast-Start for medium companies, which comes in at R1,499-million. It includes both ERP and CRM elements and comes complete with hardware and a guaranteed implementation time of eight weeks. It is optimised for 20 users.
Click, Start & Go is aimed at small companies and includes options for one user, installed in two days for R20 000.00; or for five users, installed in one week, for R40 000.00.
SAP SA's Derek Kudsee explains that the new offerings help to take the guesswork out of business software and give SME a best-in-class and predictable offering.
"They change the game completely," he says. "Our biggest competitor in the SME market space is not another vendor, it's customers deciding to do nothing. These give customers the ability to do something."
Conscious of the global market slowdown, Kudsee points out the SAP offers financing for deals of just about any size and can structure plans to fit a customer's specific need.
