MTN is now introducing the MTN Zone product to all its contract customers who are on the MTN AnyTime and MTN Off Peak packages with the TopUp option.

The launch of MTN Zone earlier this year has been a huge success story, with the product offering now acknowledged as one of MTN's most popular PayAsYouGo price plans by both customer numbers and revenue.
"The introduction of MTN AnyTime in September has made getting connected much simpler. It works in three easy steps. You pick your phone, you pick your airtime and you pick your extras. The AnyTime packages are designed to be flexible with Inclusive Airtime Value, True Per Second Billing, free SMSs and more," says Pieter Verkade, chief marketing officer of MTN SA.
"With the holiday season upon us, we are offering our TopUp customers an extra service that will help them save money on their cell phone calls. MTN Zone is the latest extra that MTN TopUp customers can add to their options, so they too can enjoy the benefit of getting up to 95% off all calls to all networks."
As with MTN PayAsYouGo customers, MTN contract customers on TopUp will also get the savings of MTN Zone with up to 95% off local calls, depending on the time of day and the location. When customers activate MTN Zone as an extra on the MTN AnyTime and MTN Off Peak packages with TopUp, all voice calls will be charged at the MTN Zone call rates
"As with many of the product offerings that MTN has brought to market this year for both our PayAsYouGo and AnyTime customers, the pricing structure has been simplified," explains Verkade.
A standard rate of R2,50 is charged for all MTN to MTN calls, no matter what the time of day. Calls to other networks will cost the customer R3,00. The MTN Zone discounts are driven by dynamic demand determined by the caller's location and the time of day.
To activate the MTN Zone option, MTN TopUp customers can dial *141*4# and select option 1.
"Once the customer has successfully activated MTN Zone, the cell broadcast function on the cellphone needs to be activated. Our customers are informed of the dynamic call discount in a particular area as they move through it, based on the demand in that location at that time," says Verkade.
"The discount remains constant for the duration of the call and, to ensure cost saving and simplicity to the customer, billing is done at per second rates. All of these services enable our customers to remain in control of what they spend on their discounted calls, and provides them with more convenience and choice over the cost of the calls they make," he adds.
