AMD has announced the AMD Athlon X2 7000 series processors, energy efficient dual-core CPUs designed for a growing segment of value-conscious PC consumers.

Based on the “Stars” AMD processor architecture, the new series features AMD Balanced Smart Cache, designed to make traditional PC activities and media software work simultaneously resulting in advanced multi-tasking capabilities and exceptional multimedia performance.
Manufacturers (OEMs) and system builders will be able to create diverse PCs with superior memory bandwidth and performance for digital media and multi-tasking applications. Strong OEM support greets the new AMD processors at launch as well-known manufacturers are expected to offer new desktop PCs featuring AMD Athlon X2 7000 series processors to consumers.
AMD Athlon X2 7000 series processors are now available as part of AMD’s "Cartwheel" consumer platform, combining the new CPUs and the AMD 780G chipset with ATI Radeon 3200 integrated graphics to support HD video, while delivering performance headroom, video processing acceleration and energy efficiency.
