More than 10 000 employees on the Satyam Computers payroll didn't exist, according to a prosecutor claiming details are contained in a new confession from the company's founder and chairman Ramalinga Raju.

Not only did he use the fictitous employees to skim money from the company, but Raju also used his mother's name to buy property for cash and forged documents relating to bank deposits, the prosecutor, K Ajay Kumar, told an Indian court last week.
Raju's lawyer has denied the allegation.
