FirstRand Bank has appointed APC by Schneider Electric to implement a super efficient green data centre incorporating hot scaleable power systems and close-coupled cooling, catering for high density computing.

The data centre is set to meet the needs of four independent divisions within the bank, the largest of which has experienced legacy cooling issues around the application of high-density blade systems.
The use of APC's in-row cooling systems will adequately meet this challenge while enabling true 2N redundancy and yet remain highly efficient.
The flexible APC racks cater for all server requirements and allow all four divisions to have secure access control at individual rack level.
With the use of the comprehensive APC software suite of Capacity and Change Management, the operational risks within the data centre have been minimised and optimum performance can be achieved.
The 2N redundant power requirement of this data centre will be provided by two multi-module redundant MGE Galaxy 7000 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, which allow for uninterrupted future power upgrade to meet expected future growth.
