The recent heroic landing of a commercial airliner on the frosty Hudson River has given rise to two new video games, where players can try their hand at avoiding flocks of birds and landing a plane on a busy river.

The two games, available free from MTV Networks, are "Hero on the Hudson" and "Double Bird Strike".
In the first, players try to perform an emergency landing in the Hudson River; in the second, they try to avoid the flocks of birds that are said to have knocked out the engines of the US Airways plane.
The real-life drama saw Chesley Sullenberger safely land a plane on the Hudson River, saving all 155 people on board.
Gamers who manage to emulate him are rewarded by passengers in the game coming on to the wing and cheering.
