India is planning to develop a very low-cost laptop computer that will be accessible to almost everyone in the country.

The project to come up with a $10.00 laptop is expected to be a boon for millions of students.
The project was launched on Tuesday and is being funded by a a government grant of 46-million rupees.
Once development is complete, the computers will be made available to the broad commercial market.
There isn't a prototype as year, but the laptops are expected to include wireless Internet access as well as a 2Gb memory.
