MySpace has removed the profile of as many as 90 000 registered sex offenders from the social networking site.
The move comes after Connecticut Attorney-General Richard Blumenthal issued a subpoena.
The final number of sex offenders who were members of MySpace was more than double to 40 000 intially believed to be active on the site.
Blumenthal is campaigning to remove registered sex offender from all social networking site.
Reports indicate that there may also be a large number on the Facebook community, but Facebook has yet to respond to their subpoena.
