Days after announcing that it's downscaled its Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in Beijing this year, Intel has reorganised its Chinese operations and shut down a Shanghai factory.
Work being carried out in the Shanghai plant will be relocated to other factories, but about 2 000 workers will be affected. They will be given options to relocate, though.
Intel will maintain its mainland China head office and will also keep the existing Shanghai R&D facility.
Intel has stqted that it remains committed to China andhas raised its investment in its Shanghai-based investment company Intel China by $110-million this year.
The company's R&D centre in Beijing and its capital fund will remain unaffected by the reorganisation.
