Nokia and Mobile-XL are working together to deliver global and local content to emerging market, starting with Africa.

By March 2009, a series of Nokia handsets shipping into Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will be equipped with Mobile-XL's XLBrowser software service, which allows content providers to use SMS-based service with a grapical user interface to deliver content.
Agatha Gikunda, marketing manager for messaging and Internet services: sub-Saharan Africa at Nokia, says the move helps to establish the mobile phone the entry point to bridging the digital divide.
Guy Kamgaing-Kouam, CEO of Mobile-XL, believes the collaboration with Nokia will help the XLBrowser to make an "impact on real lives in underserved markets".
"With this collaboration, we are taking a gigantic step toward realizing our mission of bridging the digital divide," he says.
