TallyGenicom's South African operation will close its doors for the last time tomorrow (Friday 27 February).

The company, which is a subsidiary of the UK section of the global TallyGenicom, has wound up its affairs and closed after the US company was placed in Chapter 11 earlier this month. The UK-based organisation is currently trading under adminstration.
The TallyGenicom brand and US assets are likely to be bought by Printronix via an auction next week.
Peter Viera, country manager of TallyGenicom South Africa, says it's a sad ending for a brand that has been represented in South Africa for the last 30 years.
However, he assures customers that they won't be left high and dry, with service, support, spares and consumables are all available from third-party suppliers.
In addition, Printronix – which is expected to succeed in its bid to buy the TallyGenicom assets – will more than likely honour existing warranties.
"In South Africa, there are a number of service companies who have made it their business to support the TallyGenicom brand, and they will continue to do so," Viera says.
There are about 500 trained and accredited TallyGenicom engineers active in the South African market, he adds, with service companies like Printegration and Big 5 boasting nationwide operations.
"On a personal note, I would like to thank everyone who has been involved with the brand in South Africa – the dealers distributors and customers – who have stuck with the brand for many years. It's unfortunate that this has happened but I'm confident that they won't be let down going forward."
All of the staff members from TallyGenicom South Africa have found alternative employment.
