Altron Group founder and chairman, Dr Bill Venter, has been presented with a Lifetime Achiever Award by the Minister of Science & Technology, Mosibudi Mangena.

The award was made at the Technology Top 100 companies ceremony last night (Thursday 26 Feb), and is the first of two presented to South Africans who have made an impact on South Africa's technology industry during the past few decades.
Venter founded his group, Altron, in 1965 with capital of just R40 000.00. The JSE-listed technology group now has sales of R21-billion a year and employs        14 000 people.
Venter was also presented with the Sunday Times Life Time Achiever Award for his contribution to South Africa as an entrepreneur, industrialist and philanthropist in 2006.
