Rumour being bruited around the industry this morning centres around Cell C's Jeffrey Hedberg, who is hotly tipped to be eyeing a top position at Telkom.

According to a report in this morning's Business Day, Hedberg – who is credited with turning Cell C around – could even be on track to replace Telkom CEO Reuben September.
The report speculates that Hedberg's international experience makes him a desirable target for Telkom, which sheds its Vodacom shareholding in May and could be poised to roll out its own mobile network.
Hedberg has apparently confirmed that he won't be renewing his contract in November, and is tipped to be meeting the Telkom board soon.
