South Africa's ADSL connections with the rest of the world weren't working for some hours this morning, but the fault probably wasn't caused by Conficker or any other virus.
The service appears to have been restored now, but this morning lines into Telkom were jammed as users flooded call centres with calls for clarity and assistance.
Telkom spokesman Pynee Chetty says it's unlikely the fault would have been called by the Conficker virus – also being dubbed the April Fools' Day virus.
"It seems to be a problem between local and international domain name servers," he told IT-Online.
As a result, users were able to access locally-based servers, but couldn't access services hosted internationally.
