There is huge opportunity for the South African channel to address the current challenges facing business leaders by focusing on application delivery as a business enabler and fully utilising the benefits of virtualisation.
This was the key message from James Stevenson, Area vice-president for Citrix Systems UK, Ireland and South Africa, addressing more than 100 channel delegates at the Citrix Partner Accelerator conference in Johannesburg today.
Stevenson says that CIO’s and business leaders are under intense pressure today and that IT infrastructure is complex and not as seamless as it should be, especially when compared to consumer products that are driving a better end user experience.
“Our vision for business is a world where anyone can work and play from anywhere,” says Stevenson. “Citrix is assisting businesses across South Africa with application delivery challenges, from increased security requirements to the distance between users and applications. We believe orchestration, virtualisation and optimisation are the three key building blocks of application delivery, resulting in a better way to deliver applications as a service”.
During his keynote, Stevenson highlighted the benefits of the Citrix Delivery Center, an application delivery infrastructure system that transforms IT into an on-demand service by centralising the management and delivery of applications and desktops. It simplifies IT operations by managing a single image of applications, desktops and servers, accelerating application roll-outs and reducing IT operating costs up to 50%.
