Alan Knott-Craig, who announced on Friday that he's quitting as MD of iBurst, says it's for personal reasons and that he will be relocating to Stellenbisch with his family. Co-incidentally, the announcement came just a day after it was revealed that iBurst will perform a R2-billion reverse-listing on to the JSE.
In a letter to staff at iBurst, Knott-Craig says that he and his wife had decided to move to Stellenbosch. Although he initially considered commuting to Johannesburg, he says he and board decided this wouldn't work out.
Instead, he is serving a four-month notice period.
Characteristically, Knott-Craig used the communique to staff to bolster morale and point out some of the milestones that the young company has achieved.
He points out that iBurst has become a preferred employer within the industry and has also won a raft of awards, including the 2006 MyADSL Broadband Provider of the Year, 2008 Best Company to Work For, and the Oliver Award for Top Empowered Company in ICT 2009.
