National Health Laboratory Systems (NHLS) has signed a two-year contract with KSS Technologies for the implementation and upgrade of its Cisco networking and HP ProCurve products and services across the organisation's countrywide laboratories.
The contract builds on an almost 10-year strong relationship between the companies which saw KSS implementing Cisco networking products in 2000 and 2002 and providing the subsequent maintenance and support services of its network for the last nine years.
Vanessa Ras, account manager at KSS Technologies, comments: "The new contract is undoubtedly indicative of our strengthening relationship with NHLS; they have been satisfied with our service-delivery and subsequently decided to award us with a new two-year contract with the option to a renew it again for another year depending on their networking requirements.
"Indeed, we have throughout the nine years endeavoured to provide them with strong service delivery underscored by our knowledge of their environment and products implemented."
The NHLS is a national network of integrated pathology laboratories that utilise common laboratory management systems and transport networks to facilitate transport of specimens, referral of tests to reference laboratories and delivery of results.
Approximately 265 laboratories are included in the NHLS, employing about 6 500 people. Their activities comprise diagnostic laboratory services, research, teaching and training, and production of sera for anti-snake venom, reagents and media. All laboratories provide laboratory diagnostic services to the national Department of Health, provincial hospitals, local authorities and medical practitioners.
