Datatec has decided to shed its 55% stake in African Legend Indigo (ALI), focusing rather on growing its Westcon business in South Africa, where it has increased its shareholding from 55% to 74,9%.

The group states that the decision was made following a strategic review of its South African assets and it achieved the increased stake in Westcon through divestment of its ALI shares and the issue of 275 578 new Datatec shares.
ALI is a major partner of Sun Microsystems.
Previously, Datatec owned 55% of both companies in partnership with African Legend Computing (ALC) as its BEE partner. All of ALI's shares now revert to ALC.
