General Electric is set to debut a new disk technology that will hold as much data as 100 regular DVDs.

According to a report in the New York Times, the new technology is still in the lab, but promises to provide a new leap in the storage market.
The new technology is based on holographic storage, whereby data is encoded in light patterns stored on light-sensitive material.
This type of storage will allow data to be stored more densely than the optical technology used today.
