Oliver Fortuin, MD of HP South Africa, has resigned from the company with immediate effect to return to his alma mater IBM.

HP veteran and Controller of HP SA, Gois Fouche has been appointed interim MD and interim GM of its Technology Solutions Group (TSG).
At the time of going to press, no reasons have been given for Fortuin's sudden departure, nor what his role will be within IBM.
Fortuin has only been MD of HP South Africa for nine months after he took over from Thoko Mokgosi-Mwantembe in September last year.
Prior to his appointment as MD, he was GM of the company's Technology Solutions Group (TSG) – a position he held from April 2007.
In an internal memo, Santiago Cortes, MD and vice-president of TSG HP MEMA, reassures staff about the importance the South African market and the company's commitment to the local office.
He says HP will continue to invest in the country for growth and will continue to recruit, train and promote the best people in our industry.
Within the next week, Cortes will travel to South Africa and set the search for Fortuin's successor in motion.
HP South Africa has made the following statement: “This was Oliver’s personal choice and HP thank him for his contribution and leadership and wish him well in his new endeavors.
"There is nothing sinister about Oliver’s departure from HP and in light of the fact that he is going to a competitor it is only natural that he left with immediate effect.”
