Flytxt, a mobile marketing platform provider which has already made major inroads in the Indian market, has announced plans to expand its business focus and presence to South Africa.
"South Africa is one of the most vibrant markets, and has been a hotbed of mobile innovation and technology. We are excited to be here and offer our mobile marketing technology to mobile operators and other large enterprises," says David Harper, chairman of Flytxt, who is in Cape Town to attend the company's board meeting.
Flytxt has played a role in the evolution of mobile marketing industry since 2000. It created many successful mobile marketing projects for operators including Orange Wednesdays, the longest-running and most successful mobile loyalty program in the world. In 2007 the company established its mobile marketing technology business and launched Neon, a fully integrated carrier class mobile marketing platform.
Neon is deployed with many operators and large enterprises including Reliance Communication, the second largest Indian mobile operator with over 70-million subscribers across CDMA and GSM networks.
Mobile is unlike any other marketing channel in terms of its immediacy and intimacy. With Neon's patent pending technology marketers and advertisers can engage with subscribers in a truly conversational mode. Conversational marketing is only possible when mobile's unique attributes are matched with a platform that enables operators to respond to subscriber's messages in a personal and timely manner. Live data feeds, real time communication delivery, on the fly tracking and micro segmentation are all necessary ingredients of conversational marketing. This will help operators optimise voice and VAS revenues, subscriber loyalty and advertising revenue.
Company sources indicate that discussions are already underway with leading mobile operators in South Africa.
Expressing confidence in a successful entry into the market, Dr Vinod V Vasudevan, Group CEO of Flytxt, comments: "As we have already seen with our clients, Neon gives marketers an opportunity to stay tuned to the actions of their subscribers, and respond to them immediately with relevant offers and information. This transforms the way mobile marketing is done."
As part of its expansion plans, the company has entered into a partnership with Azu Technology Advisors, which has 20 years' experience in the ICT sector.
