Robert Sussman, joint CEO at the Integr8 Group, has won the Absa Johnny Walker Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Absa Jewish Achiever Awards 2009.
Sussman, who forms part of the executive leadership of the Integr8 Group, was presented with the Award by Gill Marcus, chairman of Absa Bank, and Solly Kramer, representing Johnny Walker.
This year's Absa nominees at the Awards included David Susman, CEO of Woolworths, Steve Bluen of SABMiller and Dr Craig Nossel of Vitality Discovery, to name a few.
Previous Absa Award winners include Arthur Gillis of Protea Hotels, Alan Greenstein of Sasfin, Sean Melnick of Peregrine Holdings and William Kirsch of Primedia.
In just over eight years, Sussman has driven Integr8 organically to employing almost 500 of the most skilled ICT professionals the industry has to offer.
Among his achievements is recognition as the ICT African Achievers Top Private CIO of the year for two consecutive years, the company's recognition as the ICT African Achievers Most Innovative ICT Company, and within the ICT Workplace Provider of the Year category.
Integr8 Group also secured the Networking Infrastructure Solutions Award and Customer Experience Award at the Microsoft Awards.
The company has also been listed among the top ten Africa-based businesses identified for the prestigious Legatum Pioneers of Prosperity Award.
The 2009 win is a significant achievement, says Sussman: "I am very pleased to have received this recognition from my peers within the greater Jewish business community. It is significant, both from a personal, company and professional point of view. In terms of identification and association with the company, it certainly boosts our credibility and is a testament to the success of our business model, longevity and sustainability thereof, and our ability to adapt to transformation and the variable dynamics of the market.
"Personally, it is an honour and I take immense pride in having been nominated and winning. I do believe – and sincerely hope that it serves as a motivation and inspiration to emerging entrepreneurs in South Africa and on the continent. With hard work, passion, commitment and focus, there is very little that can stand in the way of business success and personal achievement," he adds.
