Nominations are now open for the 2009 South African E-commerce Awards and the public has been urged to come forward with their favourite online stores in 20 categories.
The awards are organised by Jump.co.za, one of SA's leading shopping compartitive websites, and are aimed at uplifting e-commerce in the country. This is the fourth year that they are being held.
The company says the awards process will be much the same as previous years – starting with a nominations round followed by a voting round.
In the nominations round, the public is given the opportunity to nominate their favourite South African online stores in 20 categories including Best Electronics Store, Best E-commerce Enabler, and the coveted title of Best E-commerce Store. The nominations round will run from 3 September until 30 September.
Jump.co.za will compile a shortlist of the stores in the various categories with the most nominations which will then be used in the voting round. The voting round will give both the panel of expert judges, to be announced later, and the public a chance to vote for their favorite store from this shortlist. Voting will open to the public from 1 October until 30 October. Votes from the public will count 49% while the judges' votes will count 51%.
The winners will be announced on 10 November.
“We are very excited about the huge success of last year’s awards and are looking forward to this year’s results,” says Jaco Roux, MD of Jump.co.za.
Some of last year’s winners were Bid or Buy, Autostyle, eDreams, Look and Listen, Wantitall, Kalahari.net and Nivo.
