Despite the closure of AMD's local office due to the recession, master distributor Asbis Africa says the supply and support of its products in South African continues without interruption.

"AMD has appointed an agent representative in Jaco Laubscher and he will ensure that it is business as usual for our many channel customers," says Adrian van der Westhuizen, product line manager at Asbis. "These partners depend on AMD processors to provide their customers with the power and speed they need. Our message, along with that from Jaco and AMD META regional head Gaith Kadir, is that there will be no break in supply of AMD product to market."
Van der Westhuizen says Laubscher has indicated his determination to continue growing AMD's local share of the market, and to work closely with the channel.
"Jaco is a local businessman who thinks in local terms," he says. "He will ensure that the AMD flag continues to fly high."
Laubscher, through the channel, is targeting customers in the business, schools and gaming markets.
"Our focus is to ensure continued support to Asbis and make sure that we work together with them to grow and expand their AMD business and their partners' and dealers' businesses through sales support and focused marketing activities," Laubscher says.
