Ricoh’s Pro C900, a workflow solution for colour production printing, found its way to Benchmark Printing – making the University of Johannesburg-based printing bureau the first owners of “Intuitive Intelligence" in South Africa.

“Purchase of the machine arose from the need for a secure, high-volume black and white copying and printing facility," says HJ Nel, MD of Benchmark Printing. "We have always been aware of the gap in the market when it comes to digital printing and Litho. When Ricoh launched the Pro C900 recently, we tried it and saw that the machine’s print quality easily exceeds that of its competition and competes with that of lithograph yet it is far cheaper to run than the current digital machines.”
The fastest machine in its class, the Ricoh Pro C900 has an integrated approach to graphic-intensive colour production with an 11 000-sheet input capacity which guarantees long runs.
“By providing printing businesses with faster turnaround times, excellent colour quality and higher throughput production, the Pro C900 is the ideal system for any business with advanced printing needs,” says Michael Barnett, marketing product manager at Ricoh South Africa.
Having used Ricoh products over the years, Nel describes Benchmark Printing’s decision to purchase a Pro C900 as “a step forward to meeting the practical and technological needs of the business".
He adds: “Our experience has always shown us that one has to be at the cutting edge of technology to ensure that you are able to keep up with our customers’ evolving needs. Forming strategic alliances with global leaders such a Ricoh allows us to do this and keep us ahead of the competition.”
As the flagship of Ricoh’s Pro line, the Pro C900 delivers high-quality professional imaging and a complete portfolio of in-line finishing options. Central to the operation of the Pro C900 is a server-based EFI Fiery controller. The Fiery platform allows the Pro 900 to maximise return on investment by dynamically managing speed, quality and advanced colour management.
