Dell and Microsoft have launched the Dell Reseller Option Kit (ROK) which will make the Microsoft Server Operating Systems available to the channel.

According to Kobus de Beer, enterprise brand manager at Dell Africa: “Dell ROK is a simpler software distribution option that allows customers to order the server software separately from Dell server hardware from Dell distributors.
"The software comes with 90 days of support directly from Dell, customised installation tools and is certified to work with Dell servers thus minimising installation and configuration efforts. These benefits will enable distributors and partners to be more responsive to client needs by easily delivering customised, high performance hardware and software configurations.”
Each Dell ROK is locked to the BIOS of Dell branded servers. Aimed at new hardware deployments only, Dell ROK will not work on a white box or on an old server. Dell ROK’s portfolio is made up of the most common Microsoft server operating systems platforms. Every Dell ROK platform comes with the server software plus 5 client access licenses (CAL), which means that for every two ROK SKUs purchased per customer, they will automatically receive 10 CALs for their domain.
Dell ROK packages will be available at Dell distributors over the next few weeks.
