iConnect and Telemetrix, both award-winning ECN Telecommunications business partners, have successfully completed a merger under the iConnect brand.
The merger sees the positioning of iConnect as a new-generation provider of carrier-grade voice solutions and services into key sectors of the South African market.
The integration of the two organisations features the strengths of Telemetrix as one of ECN’s most successful resellers into the high-end corporate and call centre markets over the past three years and the single-source capabilities of iConnect as a fully-authorised ECN reseller into the corporate market and as a wholesale agent into the channel.
Telemetrix was ECN reseller of the year in 2008 and iConnect was recently named ECN’s business partner of the year after having delivered more minutes than any other ECN agent or reseller in the country.
Calvin Collett, founder and CEO of iConnect, said the merger provides the organisation with critical mass on which to base strong and sustainable growth.
“Liberalisation of the telecommunications market and significant changes that are underway in areas such a decreases in the interconnect rate are rapidly shifting the emphasis away from simple savings based on solutions such a ‘least-cost-routing’ to measurable client value that can only be delivered by sophisticated billing and telephone management systems.
“iConnect has made appropriate investments in the development of these systems and supporting infrastructure which enable us to offer corporate-level savings and service benefits to customers in the SME sector,” he says.
Telemetrix founder Charles Proudfoot, who brings more than 25 years of executive management experience in the IT industry with a number of leading local and multinational organisations to the new-look organisation, says the merger positions iConnect in a high-growth sector of the market.
“We are now strongly positioned to provide solutions and services to a greatly expanded segment of market that falls below the threshold of enterprises addressed directly by ECN. Our reach into the mid-range sector through resellers and our own capabilities provides a solid foundation for strong and sustainable growth,” he says.
John Holdsworth, CEO of ECN, welcomes the merger between two of the company’s top-performing business partners.
“iConnect has consistently demonstrated an exceptional level of technical competence and unrivalled levels of customer satisfaction to make the company one of our most valued business partners. Telemetrix, based on Charles Proudfoot’s management expertise and experience at the highest levels in the corporate sector, has provided ECN with entry points into the enterprise space that we may not otherwise have enjoyed.
“The merger ensures the integration of these and other strengths to provide a unique value proposition to customers throughout the market and to ECN as a network service provider,” he says.
