The R&D arm of Swiss-headquartered TelFree Communications, under the auspices of global head of R&D Rapelang Rabana, based in South Africa, has developed the first unified telecommunications hub for the Apple iPhone and the Apple iPod Touch.
Released through iTunes today, the TelFree application takes intelligent contact to the next level, allowing Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and selected smartphone users to access easier and cheaper communication over the Internet.
With both online and offline telecommunications unified, users can be in contact anytime, anywhere – with no long-term contracts.
It's now possible to makes and receive calls on an iPhone using both WiFi and 3G.
The Telfree iPhone application also allows users to receive calls even when they are not logged into the Telfree application, using Push Call technology.
In addition, the application offers threaded SMS; instant messaging and chat on social networks.
