Microsoft has posted impressive gains during the third quarter as Windows 7 sales along with a recovering PC market boosted revenues.

The company's net income was up 35% to $4.01-billion as Windows sales rose to $4,42-billion compared to $3,45-billion over the comparable period last year.
In addition, the company's search, gamnig and online software products turned in good results for the quarter.
Microsoft expects the upward trend to continue, with Office 2010 going on sale in June.
It has also made a big play in the smart phone software and hardware markets.
